JOB: Course Superintendent – Maryborough Golf Club (QLD)

POSTED ON February 18, 2026 @ 7:52 pm

About the Club

Established in 1927 and designed by Daniel Soutar, Maryborough Golf Club is the longest-established golf club in the region. Enhanced in 1986 by John Burley, the course features a sophisticated watering system and borders the heritage-listed Ululah Lagoon—a picturesque water-lily reserve abundant with wildlife.

Our 18-hole course is renowned for its perfectly manicured greens and soft, tree-lined fairways. The layout offers a blend of user-friendly undulations for occasional players and challenging shots at the back of the course for the keen golfer. We pride ourselves on providing a premier golfing experience within a stunning, natural environment.

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and highly qualified Course Superintendent to lead our maintenance team. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be responsible for the total management of the golf course, ensuring it remains in peak condition year-round. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional who leads by example and has a keen eye for the smaller details that define a high-standard course.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a dedicated team of staff and volunteers to produce excellent playing conditions.
  • Implement and manage agronomic programs, including pesticide, fertilizer, and herbicide applications.
  • Oversee the operation, repair, and optimization of the course’s impressive irrigation system.
  • Manage operational and capital budgets, seeking efficiencies while maintaining high standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure full compliance with Workplace Health and Safety (WH&S) and environmental regulations.
  • Provide regular reports and contributions to the Match & Course Committee.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum Qualifications: Certificate III in Sports Turf Management (or higher).
  • Experience: Proven track record in a senior or supervisory turf management role (ideally 5+ years).
  • Knowledge: Extensive expertise in horticulture, turf care, and course construction/maintenance theory.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of irrigation systems, water management, and machinery maintenance.
  • Certifications: Current ACDC Chemical Certification, Driver’s License, and First Aid Certificate.
  • Interpersonal: Superior leadership, communication, and customer liaison skills.

Benefits and Perks

  • Remuneration: An attractive salary package will be negotiated based on experience and qualifications.
  • Environment: Work in a picturesque, heritage-adjacent location with a supportive club culture.
  • Professional Growth: Opportunity to make your mark on one of Queensland’s most historic courses.

How to Apply

If you have the passion and expertise to maintain our high standards of quality and presentation, please submit your Cover Letter and CV to the General Manager.
