JOB: Course Superintendent – Townsville Golf Club

Townsville Golf Club is an 18-hole private membership golf course in Townsville, the oldest golf club in Queensland.

About the business

Townsville Golf Club is the leader in the QLD regional golf industry. Supporting the community and providing excellent playing conditions for its members, guests and residents. The golf club is currently halfway through a redevelopment of the 18 hole course.

About the role

The Superintendent will oversee the maintenance and development of the course at Townsville Golf Club reporting to the General Manager. The applicant applying for this role should have experience in all aspects of turf management and maintenance with a strong leadership background. The position will suit and self-starting individual with care to the smaller details needed to complete the role. The successful applicant will guide a team to produce excellent experiences for members, guests and staff.

Skills and experience requirements for successful delivery of this position:

  • Extensive horticulture and turf knowledge
  • Management theory
  • Pesticide, fertiliser and herbicide practices
  • Course Design, construction and maintenance theory
  • Workplace Health and Safety knowledge and theory
  • Operation and strategic planning
  • Leadership and supervisory
  • Negotiation skills
  • Human / interpersonal relations ability
  • Accurate record keeping
  • Customer liaison skills
  • Office Suite Skills
  • Professional / Trustworthy / Punctual, reliable and dependable
  • Well-spoken and courteous
  • Self-motivated
  • Positive and enthusiastic

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certificate III in Horticulture or higher
  • Current ACDC Certification
  • Hold & maintain Australian driver’s licence
  • Current First Aid Certificate
