Redcliffe Golf Club Secures $306,000 for All-Weather Infrastructure Upgrades

POSTED ON June 11, 2026 @ 9:57 am

Redcliffe Golf Club has commenced infrastructure upgrades following severe damage caused by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, supported by a $306,000 funding package.

The funding is provided under the Sport and Recreation Recovery Grant through the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements, which are jointly supported by the Federal and State governments. The investment is directed toward restoring the course and strengthening its resilience against future extreme weather events.

Flood Damage and Course Impact

The club suffered severe flooding in March 2025 during the cyclone. The weather caused extensive damage to the existing cart pathways, which restricted movement across the course and disrupted regular operations for both members and visitors.

Infrastructure Upgrades and Accessibility

The $306,000 grant will fund the construction of new all-weather cart paths. The infrastructure improvements are designed to increase accessibility across the course and reduce the risk of structural damage during future severe weather.

By installing all-weather access paths, the club aims to reduce post-weather downtime, ensuring that members and players can safely return to the course sooner after heavy rainfall or flooding events.

Long-Term Club Viability

The upgrades are intended to secure the long-term operational capabilities of the facility by mitigating future weather disruptions.

General Manager at the Redcliffe Golf Club, Damon Lonnie, stated that the upgrades would help the club build resilience against future weather events.

“The Club is incredibly grateful to both the Federal and State governments for the outcome of this round of grants,” Mr Lonnie said. “These upgrades will make a significant difference to the long-term viability of our club.”
