Cromer Golf Club Members Donate $38,392 to Local Charities

Two northern beaches local charities have shared $38,392 donated by Cromer Golf Club following their annual Charity Golf event.

Stewart House and The Burdekin Association were nominated by Cromer Golf Club as the beneficiaries of the Charity Golf Day, both of whom offer support programs for young people impacted by societal problems including physical and mental abuse, homelessness and family breakdown.

Cromer Golf Club Vice President Mr David Gilmour presented cheques to the charities during a small ceremony at Stewart House.  At the ceremony, Mr Gilmour acknowledged the generosity of Cromer Golf Club members, visitors and sponsors for raising much needed money for these respected charities, adding “Cromer Golf Club and our members are proud to support these two charities making a difference.  We are a close knit Club with strong links to the community, and this effort demonstrates our commitment to helping those in need”.

Burdekin Association CEO Mrs Justene Gordon said the generous donation of this amount will help deliver meaningful benefits such as conduct supervised contact visits between family members, weekend youth support sessions, provide devices such as laptop computers for young school attendees, provide bedding and “set up” shops for multiple clients requiring support as they enter the program”.

Mr Graeme Philpotts from Stewart House praised Cromer Golf Club for its dedication to reach out and support those in need, stating “the students at Stewart House are extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to directly benefit from the Cromer Golf Club Charity Day, whereby the Club delivered an amazing event and presented the golf course in spectacular condition”.

This is the second year Stewart House and The Burdekin Association have been the nominated charities for the Cromer Golf Club Annual Charity event, and follows the $35,637 donated in 2017.

Cromer Golf Club has now donated over $950,000 to local charities through Charity Golf events, in addition to supporting many more local not for profit groups through in kind support.
