About The Club
Federal Golf Club, located in the heart of the Australian capital, presents one of Australia’s best inland golfing experiences. The 18-hole championship course, located on the western side of Red Hill just two kilometres from the Parliamentary Triangle, features pristine Santa Ana couch fairways and quality bent grass greens which are protected by well-placed bunkers. Federal has consistently featured in the Golf Digest Top 100 Australian Courses, currently ranking 48th in Golf Australia’s best public access courses.
About The Role
The position has come about due to the previous PGA Golf Professional securing a position at another premier golf club and leaves Federal with our full support. Reporting to the Director of Golf, the PGA Golf Professional is responsible for the planning and execution of group clinics, women’s programs, junior programs, and club-fitting and additional coaching opportunities will be available outside of agreed hours. The PGA Professional will also assist to manage all aspects of the Club’s day-to-day golf operations, including competition management, golf retail financial data reporting, and staff supervision during rostered hours.
About You
This position requires an individual who is passionate about fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. A strong background in golf retail sales, customer service and experience in a member environment is highly desirable. A permanent position is available, including 20+ hours per week in the golf shop plus coaching program coordination, across a Sunday to Thursday roster. Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be required to undertake the following:
- In collaboration with existing PGA staff, continue to plan, conduct, and manage administration for all adult group, junior, and women’s clinics
- In collaboration with the Director of Golf and Retail Manager, support golf shop retail sales and service activities including maintaining supplier relationships, product knowledge, managing stock levels, shop merchandising and sales targets
- Actively participate in the planning, marketing and execution of corporate golf days and major events, and attend event presentations as required
- Assist in managing all facets of golf course operations including bookings, competition days, social golf and driving range operations
- Assist in compiling financial reports and round data
This is a fantastic opportunity for an organised, hands-on person who possesses the ability to work collaboratively in a team, while ensuring the management of efficient operational standards on a daily basis. To be considered for this position you will:
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the golf industry
- Be a PGA accredited professional and have experience in a similar golf management or golf retail leadership role
- Have strong knowledge of all aspects of golf operations including competition golf management, administration, and Rules of Golf
- Have a working knowledge of golf and Club operating systems – experience with MiClub and GolfGenius an advantage
- Have sound business acumen with commercial & financial competence
- Deliver purpose-driven coaching solutions for club members
- Hold a current RSA certification, First Aid Certificate and valid WWVP card
- Have a positive attitude, strong work ethic and an outgoing personality with a sense of humour
- Be available to work a Sunday to Thursday roster (can be flexible based on mutual needs)
