JOB: General Manager – Cairns Golf Club
Salary: $120,000–$140,000 + super + phone + full membership

With a turnover of >$4M, a proud membership base of around 870 and a reputation for excellence, CGC boasts a championship 18-hole course, a modern clubhouse, and a progressive, engaged Board. The Club has a strong track record of leadership, solid financials, and consistent membership growth. It combines professional standards with a welcoming, community-oriented atmosphere.
This is an exciting opportunity to take the helm at a respected and high-performing regional club with a national profile. As General Manager, you’ll play a vital role in shaping strategic direction while ensuring excellence in daily operations.
The Role
Reporting to the President and Board, the General Manager will:
- Oversee the full spectrum of club operations — course, clubhouse, staffing, events, and administration
- Drive strategic planning and implementation in collaboration with the Board and committees
- Lead and develop staff, enhance systems, and cultivate a high-performance culture
- Deliver outstanding member experience across all touchpoints
- Manage financial planning, reporting, and compliance
- Partner with the Course Superintendent to maintain top-tier course standards
- Represent the Club to stakeholders and develop community and commercial partnerships
The Ideal Candidate
We’re seeking a dynamic, people-focused leader who is confident in operations and brings a blend of commercial thinking and emotional intelligence. You will:
- Lead with authenticity, working productively with a volunteer Board
- Demonstrate financial and strategic capability with proven results
- Be hands-on and approachable, whether engaging members on the veranda or managing CapEx
- Inspire and manage teams effectively, fostering accountability and positivity
- Operate calmly under pressure and deliver consistent outcomes with a people-first mindset
Desirable experience and qualifications include:
- Prior leadership in a golf club, resort, or hospitality setting
- Familiarity with POS systems, CRM, and booking platforms
- Experience in membership-based organisations and governance structures
- Qualifications in business, hospitality, or club management (preferred but not essential)
