JOB: Director of Golf – Federal Golf Club

The Federal Golf Club in Canberra has the opportunity you have been waiting for as the head of our golf operations – Director of Golf. This position requires a strong background in golf management, with at least 5 year’s experience in a similar role at a golf club. This will involve overseeing all golf operations such as competitions, corporate golf, staff management, and member engagement. You will deliver exceptional service and enhance the member and guest experience at our top 100 Australian golf course.

About Us:
Federal Golf Club is an 18-hole golf course, with an active membership circa 1,250 who enjoy our facilities and the pristine santa anna couch fairways and bent greens which is a fantastic challenge for all golfers. We pride ourselves on fostering a culture of inclusivity, excellence and passion for golf. Which is reflective of our board and membership offerings.

Key responsibilities
You will enjoy being the leader and face of Golf Operations with the ability to work independent and with all departments while oversee all golf operations which includes competitions, corporate golf, hiring of equipment, staff training and development.

You will ensure that all golf operations align with the Club’s procedures and policies while having a close working relationship with the Director of Agronomy.

The role will play a key role in Member Engagement as the Golf Shop for many is the first point of contact fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for members and guests is a must while ensuring high levels of satisfaction.

The Director of Golf will ensure all golfing events, including Corporate Golf Days, are effortless with no surprises with communications to all departments.

Overseeing the teaching and coaching team to ensure members are receiving the service that is expected. This will also include fitting and selling of equipment.

Qualifications/skills:

  • Proven experience in golf operations, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior / leadership role at a golf club with or without PGA qualifications.
  • Strong understanding of golf competitions and golf events, ideally using Miclub software.
  • Strong people skills, with a focus on relationship-building and engagement.
  • Demonstrate the ability to focus on the member/guest experience while promoting the game of golf.
