FREMANTLE, WA – The transformation of the Fremantle Public Golf Course officially began this week with a sod-turning ceremony marking the start of construction on LaunchPad Golf Fremantle, a $22 million multi-level entertainment hub.

The project marks the Australian debut for the Canadian-born brand, which currently operates two sites in Calgary and one in Minnesota. Designed to bridge the gap between traditional sport and modern hospitality, the venue aims to attract a broad demographic beyond seasoned golfers.

A New Era for Local Leisure

The $22 million development is a collaborative effort, with the City of Fremantle contributing $3.2 million toward the total cost. Once complete, the facility will be operated by Belgravia Leisure, with Sarich Building leading the construction phase.

Key features of the site will include:

  • Interactive Driving Range: Multi-level bays featuring advanced gaming technology.
  • Full Hospitality Suite: Integrated food and beverage service delivered directly to bays.
  • Community Integration: A new pro shop, upgraded amenities, and a café designed to link the course with the neighboring Booyeembara Park.

From Planning to Pitch

For those behind the project, the ceremony represents the culmination of years of logistical groundwork. Licensee and Managing Director Scott Gunson noted the significance of moving past the drawing board.

“This week marks the point where we move from planning into delivery — and start bringing this vision to life,” Gunson said.

Fremantle Mayor Ben Lawver emphasized that the city’s multi-million dollar investment was driven by a desire to create a space that serves the entire local population, not just club members.

“This project is about delivering real benefits for the Fremantle community — a facility that is safe, accessible and inclusive for everyone,” Lawver stated.

Project Timeline

Construction is expected to continue over the next two years, with an official opening date currently slated for May 2027. The project is anticipated to provide a significant boost to local tourism and employment, positioning Fremantle as a key destination for the burgeoning “eatertainment” industry.
