JOB: Food and Beverage Manager – Bowral Golf Club

Located 1.5 hours south of Sydney, the Bowral Golf Club is a private members club established in 1901 and is the oldest Club in the Southern Highlands, NSW.  Bowral Golf Club is well-regarded by members and visitors.

Bowral Golf Club’s point of difference from other clubs in the region is the member experience.  The club has strong traditions and a detailed history but also has been growing its younger demographic to complement the mature membership base.

The Role:

The Food and Beverage Manager role is primarily a Tuesday to Saturday 38-hour roster but may need flexibility to work other shifts based on operational needs.

The primary responsibility of the role is to provide a consistent level of service excellence to our members and their guests.

Under the guidance and supervision of the Board, the Food and Beverage Manager will supervise and oversee all activities, organisational execution, staffing, planning, purchasing and maintaining budgets of the Food and Beverage department.

The role is one of management and leadership but also expected to be hands-on during busy periods.

About You:

The F&B Manager must possess a positive attitude and an attentive approach, with a regard for health and safety as per the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the policies and procedures of Bowral Golf Club.

You will:

  • Need confidence, energy, charisma and be able to positively engage with people.
  • Need to be able to actively inspire and lead our F&B team.
  • Be the key to the efficient management of the day-to-day front-of-house operations.
  • Be capable of managing casual food service, fine dining and events
  • Undertake menu planning in the kitchen
  • Already have some management experience in the hospitality industry and are up for the challenge of building and leading a high-performing team.
  • Be organised and structured in your approach and plan and communicate well.
  • Have a strong ‘can-do’ attitude and a willingness to help in all areas of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead from the front and optimise the operations of our Food & Beverage to ensure exceptional service standards for members and guests.
  • Develop and implement innovative strategies to enhance the guest experience and elevate the overall F&B offerings.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and delegate work assignments with attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate all equipment required in job functions.
  • Ability to ensure the security of the Club’s products and property.
  • Staff rostering ensuring the right balance of staff versus wage costs.
  • Ensure a clean and professional appearance of the Clubhouse.
  • Ordering and receiving stock on a regular weekly or daily basis.
  • Manage events booked at the Club ensuring costs, budgets and profitability are met.
  • Promote the club to attract functions from members and external.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of F&B management experience.
  • Responsible service of alcohol and food handling certificates (or attain before the start date).
  • Passionate about the hospitality industry with a strong desire to enhance your skills.
  • Ability to professionally communicate verbally and in writing with guests, coworkers, and management.
  • Knowledge and understanding of food and beverage cost controls.
