China Golf Industry Focus for Foshan Symposium
Golf course renovation, turf maintenance, food and beverage innovation, human resources training and crossover marketing are among the topics on the agenda at this week’s Foshan Open Culture & Industry Symposium.
To be held at Foshan’s Canton International House from October 19-22, the event will feature golf industry speakers from Hong Kong and China.
The four-day gathering is held in conjunction with the Foshan Open, a 72-hole tournament that is co-sanctioned between the European Challenge Tour and the China Tour.
Headlining the speakers on day one at which ‘Exploration of the Future’ is the theme will be Hong Kong Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Club superintendent Christine Chan. She will focus on water saving and new technology for course maintenance.
Louis Chan, Chairman from Gourmet Master Chef, will present on day two under the theme ‘Innovative Value Add’.
‘People Oriented and Excellence’ is the topic for day three when Yimin Wang will discuss how best to train the trainers for your club.
The final morning will see Dr Aylwin Tai, Club Certified Manager, tackle the issues of crossover marketing and future career development for mid-management staff.
He will be joined by 11 recently Certified Club Managers from China who will share with delegates their on-going challenges and ideas for problem-solving.
Jimmy Luk, CCM, General Manager at Canton International House and Secretariat of the Symposium, said: “Last year’s Symposium had a very positive response and feedback. Among industry personnel, we see a great demand and interest for the sharing of information. We are looking forward to another successful week at which the development of the golf industry in China will be promoted.”
Inaugurated in 2013, the 126-strong field for the US$500,000 Foshan Open is made up of 60 players each from the European Challenge Tour and the China Tour with six special invitees.
