Bringing High-End Golf Tourism to the Philippines

POSTED ON April 13, 2019 @ 3:56 pm

Manila, Philippines: The benefits of ‘Bringing High-End Golf Tourism to the Philippines’ will come under scrutiny at the Asian Golf Industry Federation’s (AGIF) second Club Management Mini Summit in 2019.

Featuring Asian golf tourism guru Mark Siegel, the Summit will be held at Cavite’s The Orchard Golf and Country Club on May 9, coinciding with the Philippines Golf Course Management Conference.

Organised by the Federation of Golf Clubs Philippines in co-operation with the National Golf Association of the Philippines (NGAP) and supported by the Philippine Sports Commission, the two-day event (May 9-10) in Dasmarinas City is presented by the Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF).

Eric Lynge, the AGIF’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “Combining our Turfgrass Seminars and Mini Summits has proved a big success. It allows us to bring together turfgrass and club managers under one roof and, in turn, enables attendees to better understand the tasks and pressures on their colleagues.”

The latest Mini Summit will turn the spotlight on golf tourism.

Lynge said: “Golf tourism has become a hot topic around Asia with Governments keen to attract affluent golfers to their countries, most notably in Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.

“With that as background, we believe that now is an opportune moment to shine the spotlight on the Philippines and explore ‘Bringing High-End Golf Tourism to the Philippines’.”

Spearheading the discussion to an influential audience from the golfing industry will be Siegel, Owner and Managing Director of Golfasian, one of Asia’s most prominent golf tour companies.

Bangkok-based Siegel will tee-off proceedings with an overview of the lucrative golf tourism industry, focusing on the key elements required to become a recognised and successful golfing destination.

Also making a presentation will be Connie Mamaril, President of the Association for Inbound Golf Tourism in the Philippines.

Lynge said: “The Federation is committed to offering educational platforms aimed at improving overall standards in club management in Asia – and highlighting areas such as golf tourism.

“As this is a topic that can add considerable value to golf clubs, hotels and the country’s economy, we’re expecting a strong response from those within the golf industry in the Philippines.”

Lynge said there will be no charge for bona fide executives who work for clubs as well as committee members and owners. Limited seats are available and will be allocated on a first come-first serve basis.

Industry professionals interested in attending should contact AGIF Secretariat at eric.lynge@agif.asia to check availability and attendance fees.
