Don’t get fined…

All jurisdictions are looking at their dangerous goods laws and introducing tough new offences and harsher penalties. Victoria is a good example with the Dangerous Goods Amendment (Penalty Reform) Act creating a new offence for reckless conduct that endangers people and increases penalties for various offences to better reflect the serious nature of the offending conduct.

A new section has been inserted creating the new offence of ‘Conduct in respect of dangerous goods that endangers persons.’  This new ‘reckless conduct’ offence will carry a penalty of up to 10 years prison or a maximum fine of $627,836 for individuals who engage in reckless conduct in the manufacture, storage, transport, transfer, sale or use of dangerous goods that places a person in danger of death.

Body corporates who engage in reckless conduct that places a person in danger of death will face maximum fines of $6,608,800.

Advice to manage dangerous and hazardous goods at your site:

The below image provides a simple 7 step protocol that we recommend all epar customers across Australia undertake to ensure they are actively managing their hazardous and dangerous goods.

Above we’ve discussed to meet your duty is to have access to Safety Data Sheets (SDS’s) and an inventory. Here is a solution for you.

epar maintains a digital database that houses the SDS’s you need. They are ready in Connect 2.0 for instant download. Once you click on the SDS’s you want, they will drop automatically into your own inventory. It takes only a matter of minutes, and you can rest assured the SDS’s are current and up to date because our admin team takes care of that for you.

  • Set the storage locations of your chemicals;
  • Set product thresholds with auto reorder reminders;
  • Set your product application rates for chemicals and this information links automatically to your spray application sheet along with the SDS information.

Save time, space & money

The digitisation of labour intensive paper-based business processes like SDS management and spray application sheets management will save you time, space, and money. It also eases the transfer or information, promotes the environment, boosts security, and demonstrates compliance.

Our Digital SDS database and Chemical Application system sits under the Chemical App on your Connect 2.0 dashboard for you to streamline and accelerate this critical business function.
