PATTAYA, Thailand — The fourth Asian Golf Industry Federation (AGIF) Turfgrass Management Exposition proved a big hit with exhibitors and attendees.

The Expo was part of a three-day gathering in the Central Thai beach resort that also included the 8th Asian Turfgrass Field Day and a conference on Sustainable Turfgrass Management in Asia.

Almost 290 course superintendents and golf club officials from 24 countries attended the AGIF Expo at Laem Chabang International Country Club, held under the auspices of the Thai Golf Course Superintendents’ Association (TGCSA).

The expo featured an array of products and services from more than 25 exhibitors as well as extensive product demonstrations.

Eric Lynge, the AGIF’s Chief Executive Officer, said: “On behalf of the AGIF’s Education Committee and members, we congratulate the TGCSA on their positive initiatives and thank them for their continued efforts to raise standards.

“At the AGIF we see our role as providing support and organising part of the meeting, allowing practical training on the golf course. We are delighted to be supporting education programmes such as this.”

Thanakrit Wantavee, President of TGCSA, said: “Once again we were pleased to work with the Asian Golf Industry Federation on this venture.

“The Turfgrass Management Exposition at Laem Chabang has proved a popular addition to our Sustainable Turfgrass Management in Asia conference, enabling course superintendents to gain hands-on experience of the latest in golf course equipment and machinery.”

Emphasising the AGIF’s aim to support the entire industry, the field day was open to members and non-members of the Federation.

This event was the first in the AGIF series of Turfgrass Management Seminars and Field Days in 2016. Others will be held in the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

The Sustainable Turfgrass Management in Asia conference was organised by the TGCSA and the Asian Turfgrass Centre for the Thailand Golf Association, with support from The R&A.

The conference included two days of classroom educational seminars, an Asian Turfgrass Field Day at newly-renovated Phoenix Gold Country Club and the AGIF’s Turfgrass Management Exposition.
