Major upgrade planned for Tasmanian course by Tiger Woods design partner
A new residential subdivision is planned for the Country Club Casino and Resort, along with an extensive golf course upgrade by US-based course designer Beau Welling Design.
Federal group, a leader in tourism and hospitality in Tasmania is planning a major new development despite the economic fallout of Covid-19.
The family-owned company operates significant tourism, hospitality, retail, casino and gaming assets in Tasmania, and has struggled just like many other businesses over the past few months.
However, the industry leader recently announced a major new re-development of a local gem – the Country Club Casino and Resort.
The Country Club is located at Prospect just ten minutes from the Launceston CBD and was first opened by the Federal Group back in 1982.
Executive General Manager of Federal Group Daniel Hanna said the development had been planned for quite some time and that he still believed the long-term future for Tasmania.
“We are sure that Launceston and the north of Tasmania will get through this crisis,” he said.
Mr. Hanna said the people of the region had taken the country club to their hearts and had always been supportive of the club.
“The success of the Country Club Casino and Resort over the last 38 years has given our family-owned company the confidence to continue the project that we started over forty years ago,”
“We have many hectares of available land on this site and we know there is a demand for more residential and leisure facilities.”
The development is a joint venture with Kin Capital and is predicted to contribute $400 million into the economy of northern Tasmania over the next ten years.
The revamp is also including the Country Club golf course.
One of the most highly respected golf course designers in the world, best known in recent years as the design partner of Tiger Woods, Beau Welling Design, will be upgrading the course and the adjacent driving range.
“…Beau Welling Design will ensure it is one of the most highly regarded golf courses in the state,” said Mr. Hanna.
“The upgrade will include a number of new holes on the course and a further enhancement to the reputation of the Country Club as a destination for golfing visitors.”
At completion, the Country Club course is set to join other renowned courses of the region such as Barnbougle and Lost Farm in ensuring Tasmania is synonymous with outstanding golf experiences.
