BROADBAND SPORTS NETWORK ESPN360.COM TO CARRY ONEASIA ACROSS THE AMERICAS
OneAsia, the first professional golf tour to
provide a unified pathway for elite players in the Asia-Pacific region today
announced that its 2010 events will be broadcast live across the U.S. as
well as Central, Latin and South America on ESPN’s 24/7 broadband sports
network ESPN360.com, soon to be ESPN3.com on April 4th.
OneAsia joins a roster of major international events including some of the
world’s top golf events that are being delivered to more 50 million
households in the U.S. and 2 million in Central, Latin and South America.
The deal sealed by World Sport Group, the global media and marketing partner
of OneAsia, extends coverage across the Americas through the live online
broadcast of ten of 11 events scheduled for the OneAsia 2010 season.
“The development of the OneAsia platform requires the support of partners
who can provide the sort of unparalleled reach across the world that would
ultimately propel us to stand side by side next to the PGA Tour and the
European Tour,” said Ben Sellenger, OneAsia’s Chief Executive. “ESPN360.com
will help us do this by reaching out to golf fans internationally and
showcasing the talent we have here in Asia.”
Mark Hardess, President, ASEAN & Australia said, “The digital platform is an
important channel for sports programming and this collaboration with ESPN
reaffirms our commitment to offer coverage of OneAsia events across multiple
media platforms. Sports fans across the Americas can follow OneAsia live
not only on television but through a broadband sports network like
ESPN360.com.”
Since it was launched last year, OneAsia’s tournament schedule has more than
doubled in size, offering players a multitude of full field million dollar
playing opportunities across the region. The total purse for 2010 is $13
million.
