Mcleod Country Golf Club introduces new membership categories

POSTED ON March 19, 2014 @ 10:00 am

McLeod Country Golf Club is again making history by adding two new membership categories at its recent AGM; offering a wider variety of options to its expanding membership base, whilst revolutionising the entire industry in the process.

Originally established on land it bought for $1 in 1968 to cater for business women to play golf on Saturdays, McLeod today welcomes both men and women to the club.

The golf club set in the western suburbs of Brisbane has now added membership categories to meet the needs of young professionals that may not have the time or see value in a full traditional membership. These two entirely unique and new categories include the “McLeod Social Club” and the Young Professional category for men and women between the ages of 25-45 years old.

According to General Manager Matt Simpson, the Social Club membership is designed for golfers who are not necessarily interested in playing competition golf, but still need a handicap for those occasional corporate days or when the family gets together for the annual challenge.

“The McLeod Social Club membership allows you to keep a Golflink handicap and receive reduced green fees for all social games at McLeod.  Plus we will extend special invitations to select events such as Pro Am’s, Ladies Black Marker Challenge, and Men’s Blue marker challenge,” he explains.

“These members will have the benefit of being able to play socially all year round, 7 days a week. We’ll also administer their handicap, insurance and affiliation fees.  With a discount of  25% off our social green rates, members under this category will be eligible to save approximately $442 a year playing once a week.”

Mr Simpson said that the second new membership category was tailored especially for time poor golfers who would like the opportunity to play competition golf, but feel they do not get value for money with a traditional membership, due to their limited availability.

“The Young Professional Members & Fellows membership package is for men and women aged between 25 and 45 years old and includes a 20 competition game limit,” he explained.

“For just $800 a year, members in this category are entitled to play in Honour Board Events as part of their 20 games, are able to use the course 7 days a week for social rounds at no cost, and McLeod will administer their handicap and pay insurance and affiliation fees.”

Today both women and men make up the 1000 + membership of McLeod Country Golf Club, enjoying the strong camaraderie and fellowship, as well as a challenging game of golf on the 18 hole course.

McLeod is much more than golf hosting a number of prestigious events, seminars and weddings. The air-conditioned Clubhouse includes a bistro, bar, function rooms and poker machine facilities.
